(Check In Cyprus) – “World of Statistics” published a list of the 20 oldest cities still under continuous human habitation on Twitter, and two of them are Greek and one is Cypriot. The most populous city, as indicated by the list, is Jericho in Palestine, where civilization dates back as long as 11,000 years.
Thebes and Athens are included in the list of Greek cities, although there are criticisms from the X community in the notice that appears below the post. They assert that despite having been inhabited for at least 7 millennia, Argos is not included on the list. As they are even mentioned in mythology, they assert that Athens and Thebes are older than they appear in the article. However, it is important to note that the post omits to cite its sources.
Larnaca, a city in Cyprus, made it onto this list and earned the distinction of being the 17th-oldest inhabited city in the world. It has reportedly been inhabited for 3,400 years, specifically.
