(In Cyprus Philenews) According to Thanos Michaelides, president of the Cyprus Hotels Association (PASYXE), the current tourism season is progressing well and booking rates are high.
Michalides emphasised that a booking rate of almost 95% is anticipated for August.
He also emphasised the optimistic results anticipated from an upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arab countries. This partnership is expected to increase tourism and position Cyprus as an easy stopover for European expatriates living and working in these areas.
Michaelides emphasised that, even if the British market is still substantial, it is important to diversify into new markets.
Michalides also said that a variety of lodging options, including boutique and big-scale five, four, and three-star hotels, is necessary for Cyprus to thrive as a tourist destination.
He voiced his support for projects that would increase interest in the island, like marinas and casinos.
