The amazing church of Saint Lazarus from the 9th century is located in the heart of Larnaca city. According to the local lore, Lazarus rose from the dead and he lived in Larnaca for another 30 years. Larnaca was back then known as Kition and he was the bishop of Kition. Beneath the church there is the crypt with the tomb of Saint Lazarus. Next to the church is the Byzantine museum where various exhibitions from the temple are on display.

Why Visit

It doesn’t matter if you are religious or not, you have to visit the church of Saint Lazarus and get to know more about the island’s history and culture. It is the most beautiful church in Larnaca and one of the most significant monuments of Cyprus. Outside the church there is a big square. Additionally, there are many cafes around the church where you can enjoy your coffee with the amazing view.
