(CyprusMail) – This Thursday, the Paphos Regional Tourism Board (Etap) announced that it anticipates more flights during the winter of 2023–2024.

Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, the executive director of Etap, expressed his happiness with the improved flight schedules to Paphos International Airport for the winter of 2023–2024 in a public statement.

He specifically highlighted that there are an additional 15 arrivals each week, or a 15% increase, compared to the same period in 2022–2023, based on Ryanair’s flight schedule as displayed in the airline’s reservation system.

He also said that two flights from Athens and airports in Poland, Austria, France, the United Kingdom, and the Baltics account for the majority of the extra flights.

Meanwhile, he continued, EasyJet’s flights from five UK airports are anticipated to stay constant with about 17 incoming flights each week.

He added that there are signs that the number of chartered flights may rise.

He emphasised that it is especially encouraging that Paphos continues to have year-round connections to important airports in the UK, Germany-Austria, Poland, Israel, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, and the Baltic nations.

He went on to say that additional flights from airports in Germany, Scandinavia, Lebanon, and other places are necessary.

Additionally, Hadjigeorgiou described the ongoing improvement in connection for Paphos and Cyprus as a whole as being of extraordinary and strategic importance.

In order to fully recover the industry, he further emphasised that the improved flight schedules are anticipated to significantly promote the economy and further the growth of various tourism-related sectors.

Then he expressed his gratitude to Hermes Airports, the pertinent ministries, and everyone else who had helped build the island’s aviation connectivity.

Finally, he said that in order to achieve the long-term strategic goal of reducing the seasonal nature of tourism, the state must continue to support airlines and tour companies.

During the approaching winter season, it is anticipated that this increase in flight activity would benefit Paphos’ tourism sector and the local economy, advancing the area’s continuous development as a travel destination.
