The majority of Cypriots are familiar with this location thanks to our mythology and the goddess Aphrodite’s birth there. The Goddess of love and beauty emerged from the breaking waves’ froth. It earned the name Aphrodite’s Rock as a result. ‘Digenis Akritas’ is said to have thrown the rocks into the sea to fend off foes who were approaching from the sea, according to another myth surrounding the Aphrodite’s Rock. From this hero, the term “Petra tou Romiou” was derived.
